Rolex Daytona VS Breguet XX Transatlantic

Which one would you prefer and why?

I am looking at both of these watches, will buy one, but want to know what others see as the strong points and weak points for each.

Better design, better movement for ease of service, lower service costs, quicker turnaround time for service and more durable...also prefer the looks of the Daytona over the Breguet...good luck "Semper Ubi Sub Ubi" -Disclaimer- the above is only my personal opinion and not meant to be considered a "factual" statement on the industry, enthusiasts, or any of the communities as a whole, nor is it meant to be directed at any one personally so please respond in kind thank you

At the retail prices of both watches, the Daytona is a better watch movement-wise and value-wise. But at street price, the Daytona is way overpriced and the Breguet is a very nice chrono for the price (30-40% off retail).
Besides, I prefer the look of the Breguet and you have the option of having the date. The lemania movement inside is a quality movement (although at the entry-level of Breguet).

I think it just amtter of which one to buy first...
I bought SS Daytona in '94, and i thought it was great when i paid only MSRP for it, then i went to Japan and saw everybody was wearing it. (at least my job related communty wise)
I came back to the States and sold it right away, bought YG version instead.
Following year of '96, i wanted Aeronavale so bad and did it.
I'm sure it just matter of time and you'll be owning both just like i did.

Have you had either watch in for service? How well do they both keep time?

I currently have the the XX and use it as my every day watch, but wouldn't rule out the Daytona.
Movement wise, the Rolex would have to be one of the finest chrono movements made today.(for the price). The XX movement whilst having quite a history (same movement that went to the moon etc.)can't really compare, except on aesthetics.
The Rolex would probably be the better time keeper. (Mind you, my XX is -1/2 sec per day)
Prestige - hard to define but both would be up there.
No date on Rolex which would may be a problem for you.
Bracelets : The XX bracelet is the most comfortable I have ever worn. Supple with small links and looks nice as well. The Rolex Daytona bracelet, I would have to say is one of the 'best' bracelets made today. Very sturdy, with micro adjustment on the fly (brilliant) and looks decent as well.
Daytonas are hard to get unless you pay way over retail, whilst XX are available without too much effort.
The new Breguet type XXI (21) was recently released at Basel/SIHH with a central minute counter (aka Lemania 5100) and a day/night indicator with an increase on case size to 42mm. Should be available in November so you may want to wait.

runs great!
Daytona came back with 4 squished old O ring gaskets, one is for crown, 2 tiny ones for the chrono pusher's triplock and one big one for the case back. Nothing major works or parts replacement required for both.

I have the Breguet and it's a great watch. Love to have a Daytona as well but I prefer to have a watch that's not instantly recognizable. I've sorta outgrown that. "Let the Universe decide, flip a coin."
